INTEGRAL WATER MANAGEMENT is part of an integrated netweb system that together make up NATURE WORLDWIDE, the official website of the World Institute for Conservation and Environment, WICE. It is the heart of an seamlessly integrated network of non-profit web sites that cause you to jump from one domain to the other, without change of format. The navigation bar on your left will help you find your way through the system.

NATURE WORLDWIDE deals with different topics on nature, the conservation of nature, natural resources management and most and for all, on nature and national parks and protected areas:

	Pages for all countries of the world over 20,000 km2 of terrestrial area;
	National checklists of all the species of birds and mammals, of the world;
	Most national parks, nature reserves and other protected areas of the world, where known, with
	travel information on how to get there and where to stay;
	Special theme pages deal with topics that we consider of great importance:� Management of national parks, nature reserves and other protected areas,� ecosystem and biodiversity mapping,� biodiversity monitoring, applicable� geographical information systems (GIS) for biologists and natural resources managers; integral water management.�

You will find for downloading state of the art tools for all of your natural resources management needs:

	ILWIS, the most comprehensive vector + raster GIS in the world for a mere �100;
	The world's most comprehensive stand-alone ecosystems and protected areas monitoring database with manuals and field forms in various languages;
	The latest and most comprehensive protected areas analysis book with the famous MICOSYS analysis programme;
	The world's best region-size ecosytems map of the tropics downloadable as a shapefile;
	The Land Cover Classification System, LCCS classification tool.

All tools are supported by thoroughly prepared scientific manuals prepared by some of the world most renowned ecologists and natural resources management specialists. All tools have been prepared in collaborate agreements (like joint financing or technical contributions) of the World Bank, UNDP, GEF, FAO, IUCN/WCPA.

We have young biologists working full time at preparing information from a wide variety of sources, both from the net and from literature. The website is far from complete, but more information is being uploaded one step at the time. We regret that some pages still are empty. In some cases, we have not yet gotten around to transforming our existing information to a website format. In other cases, we still don't have the information yet. While we start out in English, the site will gradually have bi/multi-lingual texts in the relevant language of the country web-pages. With the help of users, common names of bird species are being accumulated in different languages. Including English we now have common names for bird species in 21 languages.

A separate page is dedicated to a review of over 1300 titles of publications on birds. The site also provides information on WICE.

WICE will continue to upgrade and expand the information in this webnet with its in-house information as well as with information from you, the user. Any country web page can be adopted by a national society for the conservation of nature or birding, or by an individual birdwatcher, who can correct and maintain the contents of checklist of the birds of the country and add national ornithological hot spots. Such organisation or individual will be encouraged to provide a brief organisation profile or curriculum and an email address to be posted on the national web page to facilitate correspondence with birdwatchers interested in that country.
